Experience the thrill of whitewater rafting on the Snake River with a small-boat adventure designed for maximum excitement. Your trip begins at Mad River’s headquarters on South Highway 89, just minutes from downtown Jackson. Arrive 30 minutes before departure to check in, meet your professional river guide, and gear up with a Coast Guard–approved flotation device. Optional wetsuits, booties, and jackets are available to rent for added comfort. After a short shuttle ride to the river, you’ll receive a paddling orientation before launching from the West Table Boat Ramp. Your small raft features six paddling spots and two non-paddling positions (max 8 people), making it ideal for those ready to be part of the action. Over the next 13 kms, you’ll navigate a series of fun, splashy Class I–III rapids including Bailing Straights, Lunchcounter, and Million Dollar Fishing Hole. As you paddle through the Snake River Canyon, your guide shares stories of local ecology, geology, and wildlife. Keep an eye out for mule deer, elk, otters, osprey, and bald eagles along the riverbanks. Expect to get wet and come prepared with water-friendly footwear, a swimsuit, and quick-drying layers. Please Note: Meeting place is a Mad River Headquarters just 3 km's south of Jackson Square at 1255 South Highway 89. Transportation to and from the river is included. Gear Rentals (wet suits($10), booties($5) and jackets($5) are available for rental). This is the small boat adventure, a larger (classic boat adventure) is available a (5.5-meter) AIRE raft, which seats 16 people, but these tours generally average 10 to 12 guests per boat.
